Refresh – Canestrino bianco di Toscana

I adore a good “orange wine” and it’s great to discover that Tuscany is home to plenty. It also happens that I live a few doors down from a wine bar/shop which specialises in organic and biodynamic wines too!

This beautifully smooth Trebbiano and Malvasia blend is something really special. It’s production follows organic and biodynamic practises, it sees a natural fermentation, it’s vinified in concrete and is unfiltered (hence its slightly cloudy appearance). The result? A  wine of a light golden colour, with notes of citrus and floral notes on the palate – the oxidised nuttiness adds flavour, body and depth, and for around the €15 mark, it’s a wine I will definitely be going back too time and time again.

This wine would go great with a plate of pecorino and local salami’s, and even light fish dishes (or of course on its’ own!). Enjoy…
